nThere are three objective lenses mounted
together – the entire assembly is often called the nose piece. Note the ring
of the nose piece (1). This ring can be turned as shown by the arrows. Turning
the ring brings the desired objective into position. When correctly aligned,
it ‘clicks’ into position.
nThe objective “in use” is vertical. The other
two have a slant.
nNever hold the objective to
turn the nose piece. Always use the ring!
nNote the numbers on the objectives (in ovals)
– 4x, 10x and 40x. These indicate the magnifying power of the lenses. The ‘x’
is a multiplication symbol. These numbers are read as “four times” etc. The
objectives also have distinguishing coloured rings on them.
nThe other numbers / letters on the lenses do
not concern us.
