Focusing Knobs
nThe focusing knobs (3) are located on both sides of the microscopes. On each side there are two knobs (A and B). They Both knobs function by raising or lowering the stage. The outer (bigger) knob moves it through a greater distance for a small turn and is called the coarse adjustment knob. The inner (smaller) knob is for fine adjustment.
nVery gently turn knob A both ways and notice the movement of the stage. Turning in the direction indicated by the arrow should lower the stage. The opposite movement will raise the stage.
nBe very careful when raising the stage. A badly aligned objective may be hit by the stage.
n Turn the fine adjustment knob (B) and note that the movement of the stage is imperceptible.
