Urography
These pictures show intravenous urography. Note the lumbar vertebrae, the outlines of the cavities (calyces) of the kidney and the ureters, as also the course of the ureter. In about an hour’s time all the iodine compound will be in the urinary bladder.
Key Points :
 In intravenous urography, the medium is injected through a vein. It is too dilute in the bloodstream.
 It is ‘concentrated’ in the urine by the kidneys.
 This imaging method also indicates that the kidney is functional!
