This
is an oblique view of a barium swallow. You need not worry about the
details of the view.
Note
the ribs on far side and the vertebrae at lower right.
At
the upper end of the picture the barium paste mass is narrow, indicating that
the oesophageal muscle is contracting to push the ‘bolus’ down.
At
lower left notice that some barium has entered the stomach and shows as a
larger mass.
